Job Description
SUMMARY
Sets up and operates 5-Axis, 3-Spindle Gantry type milling machines to machine forged parts and rings by performing the following duties with moderate supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. In the event of uncertainty or lack of knowledge of Company policies and procedures, employees are required to request clarification or explanations from superiors or authorized company representatives.
Reads blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining.
Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures to the work table. Is able to probe fixtures and check datum set points for accuracy. Understands all the attachments, accessories, and materials used to clamp parts onto the fixtures.
Is able to determine cutting tools sizes and verify they are correct for the application per work instructions.
Uses overhead cranes and/or forklifts to move parts and rings.
Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut. Is able to enter commands to retrieve program files and execute. Must have a basic understanding of CNC programming and has the ability to read and understand computerized machine control media.
Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.
Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
Confers with engineers, planners, metallurgists, programmers, or others to resolve machining problems.
Writes Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts; clean and maintain machine and tools; and grind tools and accessories.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Two year certificate from college or technical school; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports. Ability to speak effectively before supervisors or employees of Company.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Familiarity with all tools and equipment in a machine shop, including drill press, tool grinders, power saws, belt sanders, various measuring tools, shovel, broom, tape readers and punches, etc.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to airborne particles. The employee is frequently exposed to oils and other cutting fluids and vibration. The employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud



Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
