Engineering & Maintenance Manager

Armstrong Flooring, Inc. (AFI) has a job opportunity for an Engineering and Maintenance Manager to be located in South Gate, CA. The Engineering and Maintenance Manager will provide engineering and maintenance leadership to the manufacturing and facility operations. Additionally, the Engineering and Maintenance Manager will be responsible for the effective management and coordination of the hourly maintenance & storeroom teams, plant engineers and the plant capital budget.Key Responsibilities of the Engineering and Maintenance Manager:Providing leadership in support of the organizations Safety Management ProcessEnsuring the timely repair and maintenance of buildings, grounds and other facilitiesPromoting the continual improvement of Plant Reliability, through proper support of Lean events, through capital investment and re-engineering projects that strive to offset maintenance materials inflation and to reduce plant downtimeMaintaining the efficiency and effectiveness of all production related manufacturing equipment and processes required to manufacture a high quality product in a repeatable and cost effective mannerDriving improvements in all related manufacturing processes, including those related to products, equipment, human interface and product qualityEnsuring new parts and optimization projects are completed by the required deadline, at reasonable cost, and with a robust processEnsuring effective operation of the storeroom operation in support of the plants goalsEnsuring the plant IT/Network is effectively managed in support of the plants goalsEnsuring the required technical support for all critical process and product issue resolution is available for all product builds, process operations and facilities managementApproving all tooling, either manufactured or purchased, used in assigned functional areaRecommending and providing leadership support for the implementation of new process improvement projects related to safety, Plant Reliability, process effectiveness, and cost utilizing improvement systems/tools such as 6 Sigma, Lean and 5SDeveloping departmental goals and strategies consistent with Plant, Corporate, and Operational goals and provides the leadership for the planning process to meet these goalsProviding general direction and performance requirements for use of outside contractors and service representatives as it relates to engineering effortsAdhering to the values, beliefs and principles pertaining to EHS with Armstrong FlooringManaging general plant engineering projects and servicesPreparing and managing capital budget for those projects related to general plant services and distributionLeading in the implementation of repeatable processes to support selected process control systems and achieve desired resultsProviding direction for the maintenance and storeroom group assuring that all processes are performed in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)Overseeing the repair and maintenance of all facility equipment including, building, grounds, plant utilities, and manufacturing equipmentDeveloping and implementing selected process measurement to monitor manufacturing performance and system effectivenessEnsuring compliance with all EPA, CalOSHA / OSHA and other related regulatory requirementUtilizing design of experiments and other appropriate techniques to evaluate process capabilities and monitor resultsScheduling and conducting design and post-audit reviews of new/current products to obtain the designed quality at the least costRequired Qualifications for the Engineering and Maintenance Manager:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering10+ years of experience in heavy manufacturing industry5+ years of supervisory responsibilityKnowledge of Machine Shop Operations, Metal Fabrication, and mechanical assembly processesKnowledge and understanding of Continuous Improvement tools and approaches (Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, Problem Solving, Kanban, Process Mapping, etc.)Experience developing and managing capital improvement projectsMust understand systems, design of repeatable processes, and utilize SPC when appropriatePossess excellent communication skills (both written and oral)Ability to communicate well with all levels of the organizationMust be a self-starter and be able to function in a semi-autonomous environment

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
