Buyer, Maintenance

Maintain maintenance and plant processing inventory by ordering, tracking, placing purchase orders into AS400 system, receiving goods matching invoices, and properly coding to correct departments.
Makes purchasing decisions with honesty and integrity, in a manner that excludes consideration of personal advantage or gain.
Investigate alternative suppliers for better quality and better pricing on supplies, parts and equipment.
Confers with current and prospective vendors to determine supply capabilities, transportation logistics and delivery terms.
Secures and analyzes quotes, negotiates prices and terms with suppliers. Recommends suppliers with respect to cost, quality and delivery competitiveness.
Examines incoming materials and parts, verifies parts numbers, and checks for discrepancies such as defective, damaged or unmarked parts.
Confers with Managers regarding overdue material and/or parts in relation to delays in repairs.
Recordkeeping and inventory management; Filing; cycle counting and year-end inventory audits; issues/returns parts and materials; housekeeping and organization of parts room.
Stocks tools and parts shelves
Records and maintains inventory of materials and parts received, stocked, and distributed.
Processes work orders from the plant. Will discuss work orders ? resources and materials with Maintenance Manager or supervisor who assigns work to mechanics.
Evaluates jobs, confirms need, determine effective execution of work orders and issues approved schedules with all supporting documentation and required resources.
Audits work orders to ensure accuracy and planning of supplemental work.
Ensures that safety precautions are given top priority in work planning.
Gathers any blueprints, drawings, sketches, etc. required by work order. Maintains backlog files and status of standing work orders.
Estimates how long job will take, enters into system which calculates labor costs.
Plans, estimates, verifies availability of and orders and stocks parts, materials, and special tools.
Prepares a weekly forecast of all jobs. Keeps maintenance manager apprised of all critical issues.
Performs data entry for Maintenance Connection system for Preventative Maintenance (PM) program, purchasing system, and other Maintenance Department needs.
Monitors work orders in the computer system to determine the type and quantity of tools, parts required availability of stock, and other priority.
Confers with department supervisor to inform them of material status.
Locates and distributes tools and parts to contractors, maintenance and production personnel.
Coordinates return receipts for unused parts.
Compiles and maintains maintenance material inventory records.
Examines tools and parts received, verifies parts numbers, and checks discrepancies such as damaged or unmarked parts.
Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.
Perform other duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or GED or equivalent. Five years (5) years maintenance experience in a continuous operating manufacturing or processing environment.
2 years previous experience in production or maintenance, purchasing and inventory control experience in a food processing environment.
Proficient computer skills in CMMS (e.g. Maintenance Connection; MP2), MS Excel, Outlook, and Word.
Strong communication skills; oral; written, and interpersonal.
Will be Back-Up Scheduler.
Attention to detail; organized

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Repetitive hand motion on a continuous and frequent basis.
Ability to stand throughout entire shift and frequent walking.
Ability to lift at least (50) pounds independently; bending; squatting; stooping; kneeling; climbing; or reaching for extended periods of time.
Ability to work in fast paced environment.
Ability to withstand exposure to a wet and noisy environment.
FOOD SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES
All palletizing personnel are responsible for safety including, but not limited to the following: practicing GMPs and practicing appropriate food defense techniques.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
