Dickson Testing a Wyman-Gordon Company, located in South Gate, CA, provides?a number of services for engine and structural components relating to aircraft manufacture and maintenance. We have skilled professionals who use modern equipment including scanning electron microscopy, x-ray analysis, and advanced metallurgical techniques to perform and record various material testing and chemical analyses.

We offer state-of-the-art services in mechanical, metallurgical testing, and chemical analysis. Our labs are equipped with top-of-the-line machines and computers?which are?managed by qualified professionals.

Job Summary

The Operations Manager is responsible for managing and sourcing all processes that include destructive testing, non-destructive testing, heat treating, machining, cutting.? He/She ensures that throughput targets are achieved in a safe, timely, cost effective and productive manner with jeopardizing quality.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for supervision of shift employees including training, discipline, housekeeping and staffing recommendations.

  • Ensure that all department production methods and practices are consistent with internal quality standards, customer requirements.

  • Effectively develop and coach supervisors and employees on with emphasis on building a winning team.

  • Communicate all issues to workforce working toward required goals.

  • Must be able to multi-task and ability to drive department in meeting goals.

  • Effectively collaborate with quality, metallurgical engineers to achieve cost and safety requirements and mitigate scrap and rework.

  • Provide leadership and act in a manner that maintains a positive work atmosphere that will result in excellent relationships with customers, clients, co-workers and supervisors.

  • Manage, direct and coordinate all activities related to the operations area to maximize productivity and minimize cost while achieving safety, quality and throughput targets.

  • Ensure all production data is gathered and reported correctly on a daily basis.

  • Stay abreast of technological advancements and process improvements, which may impact production.

  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities including interviewing, hiring & training employees; planning, assigning & directing work; evaluating and appraising individual performance; rewarding & disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Review variable costs, productivity, earned standard hours and throughput daily and implements effective corrective actions when targets are not achieved.

  • Support and improve upon quality initiatives designed to meet plant goals.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education

  • Bachelors of Science in Engineering or Business or higher preferred.

Minimum Experience required:

  • Preferred candidate will have a minimum of 5 years managerial experience.

This experienced manager will be responsible for providing supervision/direction to all production departments. Responsibilities include achievement of high quality, low cost, safety and on-time performance goals and development of advanced methods and techniques to increase productivity.? This is a very fast pace environment.

US Citizenship or Perm Residency is required due to government military contracts.

Skills Required:

  • Previous Operations Management experience in a forging manufacturing environment showing progressive advancement with increasing levels of responsibility.

  • Preferred candidate will have a minimum of 5 years?Aerospace manufacturing?Operations experience

  • Must demonstrate knowledge of sound business practices

  • Excellent analytical and communication skills

  • Solid, overall business acumen and a strong mindset for continuous improvement

  • Attention to detail and an attitude of 100% compliance with all company and regulatory requirements.

  • Work requires verbal communication and interpersonal skills.? Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects.

  • High energy level and ability to work flexible hours

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
