Manufacturing Supervisor

Armstrong Flooring, Inc. (AFI), has an opportunity for a Residential Tile Production Supervisor located at our plant in South Gate, CA.  This facility opened in 1938 and first produced asphalt tile, which was eventually replaced with Vinyl tile in the mid 1950's.  Today, the plant employs about 120 people to produce, maintain and ship our vinyl-flooring tile.  The South Gate plant is committed to safely delivering quality products to our customers.   We are looking for a Production Supervisor who can effectively motivate and manage a team of 8 full-time employees plus temporary operators to produce residential tile flooring products on our Grave yard shift (10:00 PM - 6:00 AM). The selected candidate will achieve results through coaching and team development, effective schedule optimization and identification and implementation of new and improved processes. This position will also work closely with a multi-functional team in driving process improvement and cost reduction initiatives using innovative tools such as lean manufacturing.   Key Responsibilities: Leading, managing, hiring, and training a crew of approximately 8 production operators. Promoting and ensuring a safe work environment and environmental compliance. Ensuring production goals are met or exceeded, including yield, throughput, and quality. Preparing daily production schedules and ensuring schedule adherence. Applying Lean manufacturing best practices and driving continuous improvement with people and processes. Effectively managing operations while meeting budgetary goals. Partnering effectively with maintenance and engineering to optimize equipment performance and reliability and assisting with Lean projects. Developing team to be accountable for their results. Acting as a key member of the department and the plant safety leadership teams.   Required Qualifications: Bachelor's or Associate's degree (or equivalent) in engineering, business or related field or commensurate experience. Five or more years of effective and/or progressive production management experience. Strong management and leadership skills and demonstrated ability to effectively lead and motivate a diverse group of employees. Excellent working knowledge of safety and environmental practices and regulations, including OSHA compliance. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Demonstrated ability to develop and enhance team building activities and employee development. Must be able to work graveyard shift hours (10 p.m. to 6 a.m.).   Desired Qualifications: Experience with manufacturing maintenance, engineering and distribution. Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean principles and other process improvement tools. Solid mechanical knowledge, including machine operation, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
